Maxine Donahoo, age 100 of Dandridge, TN, formerly of Gatlinburg, passed away Monday morning, January 21, 2013, at the Jefferson Co. Nursing Home. She was born August 7, 1912, the daughter of the late John William and Kathleen (Tipton) Donahoo.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Aleen Donahoo, Geraldine Donahoo Sims; brother, Lynn Donahoo; nephew, Bill Donahoo.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Maxine Sims McNutt, Priscilla Donahoo Felknor, Jessie Sims, Donald Sims, Paul Sims, and Richard Donahoo; several great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; special friend, Janet Hardin.
Maxine was a graduate of the Vanderbilt School of Nursing and began her nursing career as a Registered Nurse for TVA where she worked for 15 years. She later partnered with her dear friend, Louise Hendrix as co-owners and operators of the popular Gatlinburg gift shop “ The Cliftdwellers” for over 48 years where she made many friends over the years.
She will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving and giving person who was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand.
Funeral services, Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 2 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City with Rev. Darrell Chambers officiating. Interment to follow at West View Cemetery. Family will receive friends, Wednesday, 1 to 2 p.m. prior to services at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City.
