Jane Elton Zevin
Jane Elton Zevin, 82, a longtime resident of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and more recently of Sevierville, TN, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2012. Jane was born on May 23, 1930, in Oak Park, Illinois, one of Irma and Stuart Elton’s three daughters.
After moving to Florida with her family and attending Florida State University, on June 13, 1954, Jane married Sandy Alexander Zevin and became the wife of an USAF pilot and then mother of two daughters. Jane was her husband’s adventuresome partner as they traveled across the country and overseas to new military assignments. At each new location Jane met new friends and enjoyed the activities each location offered including swimming, fishing, sailing, water-skiing, snow skiing, ice skating, tennis, bowling, motorcycle rides & attending stock car races with her husband. Although her family and home came first, she was also a business partner with her husband, an active and involved member of the Ft. Walton Beach Yacht Club, an avid bridge player and a volunteer at the local hospital.
Jane loved sharing life with her family and friends. Having celebrated over 53 years of marriage, Jane was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, grandmother and friend. Jane was a nurturer, always thinking of and doing things to make her family comfortable. She put aside her fears of “what if” and instead lived a “can do” life as an example for her daughters & granddaughters. She was an amazing lady and has left a legacy of love and family commitment.
