Helen June McCarty
Helen June McCarty, age 83 of Sevierville, TN, formerly of Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 10, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Helen June, the daughter of Lester and Catherine Schwamberger was born on November 28, 1929, in Toledo, OH. Helen became seriously sight impaired in her late teens from a severe illness but this never kept her from being an active devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had an amazing number of jobs and hobbies including sales of products made by the Blind in her younger years. She was prolific at crocheting and knitting, hand making over her lifetime several hundred afghans, sweaters and slippers as gifts for family, friends and for the needy. Most recently she focused on making dozens of afghans donating them to a local veterans rest home. She enjoyed boating and fishing in Lake Erie, shelling on the beaches of Florida, doing craft shows and in particular making long time friends wherever she traveled.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gerald McCarty; son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Jeri McCarty; grandchildren, Jason, Evan, and Ryan McCarty; great grandchildren, Raelynn and Shyla; sisters-in-law, Ruth McCarty and Donna McCarty; brother-in-law, Leonard Raye, nieces; Janice Dugan, Lisa Ash, Kim Evans; nephews, Chuck Raye, Scott Raye and Chris McCarty. She is preceded in death by her parents Lester and Catherine Schwamberger; sister Alice Simmons, brother-in-laws Charles Simmons, Donald McCarty, James McCarty; sister-in-law Marjorie Raye; nephew, Philip Raye.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Atchley Funeral Home, Seymour, 122 Peacock Court, Seymour, TN 37865, (865) 577-2807.
