Arthur James Boyce

Arthur James Boyce, 85, of Seymour, went home to his Lord and Savior on May 19, 2013. Born Oct. 20, 1927, in Rochester, N.Y., he lived in New York, Florida, Texas, and Virginia before coming to Tennessee. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in World War II. He retired from a career in retail sales at Sears and J.C. Penney. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sevierville, where he was a member of the Chuck Sexton Sunday School Class and sang with the Heavenbound Singers. He loved music, volunteering with Sevier County Food Ministries, and helping friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Edwards Boyce. He is survived by his beloved wife Lois; daughter Teresa Boyce Gross and her husband Spencer of Knoxville, and grandsons Logan and Nolan Gross. He is also survived by stepson Roger Rogers and his wife Melanie; step-grandson Jason Rogers, and step-great grandchildren Cameron and Kaley Rogers. The family is especially grateful to his best friends Sven and Patty Hanson for their support and love. Receiving of friends will be Friday, May 24, from 5-6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Sevierville. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at 6 p.m. with Reverend Jerry Hyder officiating and Reverend Scott Andrews singing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Sevierville.
