Donald Walter Elroy of Gatlinburg TN passed away August 29th, 2013. Survivors are a daughter Jessica Reavis, son-in-law Clayton Reavis, and a granddaughter Lilly Reavis of Mooresville NC, and two sons Colin Elroy and Noah Elroy of Gatlinburg TN. Born on Valentine’s Day February 14th, 1953 to Hayden and Betty Jane Elroy (who proceeded him in death), Don was the first born of six children. He grew up in Kankakee, IL. Don was an all around performer being an accomplished singer, songwriter, musician, actor, and director. Don’s love was the theatre. He graced the stages in such shows as The Music Man, Pippin, Cole, Godspell, The King and I, The Sound of Music, Our Town, The Crucible, and Jesus Christ Superstar. Don was also an advocate, lover, and voice for the animals. He was director of the Tennessee Network for Animals as well as working with other animal organizations such as SAEN, HSUS, and was a featured speaker numerous times at the Animal Rights National Conference. He saved many innocent lives in his lifetime and helped others to do the same. He was a compassionate and caring man who above all loved his family with all his heart. He had a sister Marjorie Elroy who proceeded him in death and four surviving siblings Tom Elroy, Rick Elroy, Dorothy Buono, and Bob Elroy of Illinois. May your soul be singing and resting in peace with the animals. “We’ll love you forever we’ll like you for always forever and ever our daddy you’ll be!”.
