Robert G. “Bob” Staats, age 69 of Seymour, went home to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 7, 2012. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War as a Military Police Officer and as a Fuel Specialist, achieving the rank of Airman Second Class.

He is preceded in death by a son, Matthew Charles Staats; parents, Charles L. Staats and Thelma F. Staats of Mingo Jct., OH; and brothers, Delmer Staats of Mingo Jct., OH, and George Staats of Sevierville.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia Staats; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Denisa Staats, Derick Staats and Shareen, Robert W. and Christine Staats, and Brian and Cammie Staats; grandchildren, Christopher, Stevie, Curtis, Branden, Blake, Brandie, and Lyriq Staats; great grandchild, Payton; brother and sister-in-law, Leonard (Buster) and Doreen Staats of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; and sisters and brother-in-law, Velma Kay and David Allen, of Stow, OH, and Ruth Haslet, of Ormond Beach, FL.

Funeral Service 10 a.m. Saturday in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Rev. Jim Sellars and Rev. Larry Teaster officiating. Interment will follow in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens with military honors provided by American Legion Post 104. The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at Atchley Funeral Home Seymour 122 Peacock Court, Seymour, TN 37865 (577-2807).
