Winfred Stephen Ownby

Winfred Stephen Ownby 93 of Sevierville, passed away Tuesday Dec. 17 at Leconte Medical Center. He was a WW2 Veteran under General Patton's 3rd Infantry Tank Division and received 2 Purple Hearts for his service to our country. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was a mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was the last survivor of the Steve Ownby family from Elkmont. He was preceded in death by his parents: Steve and Eva Cook Ownby, Wife: Dorothy Scott Ownby, Sister's and brother-in-law: Iva and Earl Franklin, Grace and Joe Trentham, Brother's and sister-in-law: Albert and Nell Ownby, Roy and Jean Ownby. Survivors include: Son: Stephen Ownby of Elkton, Md. Daughters: Joan (Fred) Parkinson of Jonesville, Va. and Connie (Earl) McCarter of Sevierville. Granddaughters: Jill (Glen) McDonough of Norton, Va. Megan (Kevin) McClure of Pigeon Forge and Shauna (Justin) Brown of Sevierville. Great Grandsons, Elijah McDonough of Norton, Va. and Caden Brown of Sevierville, Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral service will be Thursday at 7 P.M. at Rawlings Funeral Home. Rev. Danny Suttles will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Graveside and Military Services will be Friday at 10 A.M. at Elkmont Cemetery. The family would like to thank Amedysis and home health for their wonderful care and a special thanks to Connie Shultz Moore for her friendship, loving care and all she did for Winfred.
