James Lamar Mitchell
James Lamar Mitchell, age 78 of Sevierville, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013 after a long illness with his loving family by his side. He was a retired iron worker and an Air Force veteran. He drove a school bus for Sevier County Schools and loved working with children at Sevier County High School as a teacher’s aide. He was an excellent sketch artist, and loved the game of golf and especially enjoyed frequent games with his brother, sons and grandson. He loved history, and old western movies. He loved his babies and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents Naomi and Ross Mitchell.
He is survived by: His loving wife of 60 ½ years: Dorothy “Dottie” Mitchell; Daughter and Son-in-law: Teressa and Doug Park of Springfield, Ohio; Sons and Daughters-in-law: Doug and Lisa Mitchell of Tipp City, Ohio, Scott and Sheree Mitchell of Seymour, Tennessee, and Mike and Debbie Mitchell of Sevierville, Tennessee; Grandchildren: Brian Park (Trish), James “Jimmy” Park, Aaron Mitchell, Marie Mitchell, Matt Mitchell (Michelle), Nick Mitchell (Kelly), and Jackie Mitchell; Brothers and Sisters: Robert “Bob” Mitchell of Springfield, Ohio, Joseph “Joe” Mitchell of Jacksonville, Florida, and Mary Ann Zenbruch of Naples, Florida. He was Loving Uncle Jim to several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will meet 1 PM Monday at Atchley’s Seymour Memory Gardens for graveside service and inurnment with Pastor Brent Freeman officiating. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, 122 Peacock Court, Seymour, Tennessee.
