A Morristown couple has been charged with burglarizing several rental cabins in Sevier County.

A press release issued Thursday evening from the Sevier County Sheriff's Office said David C. Acuff, 28, and his wife Maranda A. Acuff,  25, both of 534 Sunrise Ave., in Morristown, were charged with aggravated burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Their arrests came around 8:41 p.m. Monday, after Officer Jerry Huskey was patrolling in the Smokey Cove Cabin Resort at around 8:41 p.m. and observed a male subject jump from a balcony of a rental cabin. The man jumped into a vehicle and drove off.

Huskey stopped the vehicle and after a search found three flat screen televisions that had allegedly been taken from area rental cabins. The male driver was identified as David Acuff, while Maranda Acuff was a passenger in the car.

Both were booked into Sevier County Jail and are awaiting a March 18 hearing in General Sessions Court.
