Visitors cool off at Sevierville's Family Aquatic Center

Despite the rainy season, several families made the most of the weekend with a few hours of sun and fun at the Family Aquatic Center on Saturday. The center is located at Sevierville City Park.

Some of these families were tourists visiting the area for the Fourth of July. Refusing to spend the day indoors, they decided to take a gamble on the weather.

Christy Hancock traveled with her two children, Eden and Eli, to spend a few days in the Smokies. The family enjoys the area and visits as much as possible.

"We're from a little town called Sugar Grove in Virginia that's a couple of hours up the road," Hancock said. "We're here all the time. I don't know why we don't just move here."

Two-year-old Zackary Falk's favorite part of the pool was the splash pad, where he spent most of the morning playing with his father, Dan.

Nearby, Zackary's cousins, 3-year-old Harry Falk and 15-month-old Eliza patiently allowed their mom, Elise Falk, to apply a thick layer of sunscreen before they headed off to play.

The Falk family traveled to Sevierville from Cincinnati, Ohio, to attend a family reunion.

"We came in for the reunion, but we like it here, and the pool offered a good opportunity to let the kids play," said Dan Falk.

The Family Aquatic Center offers patrons a large outdoor pool, two water slides, a diving board and a splash pad. A concession stand also provides snacks and drinks. The pool is open daily from Memorial Day weekend through mid-August. For more information, call 865-453-5441 or 865-429-1504.
