Two rezoning issues due final approval at Forge commission meeting
The agenda for Monday’s City Commission meeting includes final reading on two rezonings.
The city is rezoning a section of the municipal parking area between the LeConte Center and The Island, Assistant City Manager Eric Brackins said.
The area, which is zoned for planned nit commercial use and mixed use commercial use based on earlier plans for the land, will be rezoned for planned unit/public use. That will make it match the rest of the property, Brackins said.
“We’re just going to rezone that ... to be coordinated with the rest the lot,” he said.
The other rezoning is for Two View Road, in an area right behind Huck Finn’s Catfish, he said.
Much of the area just off the Parkway has been zoned for mixed use commercial, he said, but individual property owners sometimes ask to be rezoned in ways that better suit their plans. In this case, the owners have asked to be zoned for general commercial use, which also fits in with some of the surrounding classifications, he said.
Both items are on the agenda for second reading, meaning they will be enacted if the commission approves them this time.
There will be time for people to speak about the rezonings during a hearing at the start of the meeting, which is set for 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
Other items on the agenda:
n First reading of a request for property at 1341 Wears Valley Road to be rezoned from mixed use commercial to tourist commercial use
n A resolution to participate in a Tennessee Municipal League’s safety grant program
n Purchase of furnishing for the LeConte Center and tourism offices
