Man arrested on robbery charges
Police here arrested a local teen for an April incident in which he allegedly tried to use a BB pistol to rob a person.
Jarick R. Campbell, 18, of 916 Ogle St. in Gatlinburg — reports also give a Knoxville address for him — is charged with criminal attempt of aggravated robbery. He is being held in lieu of $75,000 bond.
According to Campbell’s arrest warrant, Shawn Cox told police in April that Campbell and two other people tried to rob him on April 21.
In the intervening time, Detective Tim Williams tracked down at least two of the three suspects. Campbell admitted to being involved in the incident and having a BB pistol at the time, but said it was a fight between his cousin, Shonquarius D. Mitchell, and Cox — not a robbery.
Campbell said Mitchell pointed a pistol at Cox and told him to get on the ground.
When police questioned Mitchell, “their statements differed significantly,” Williams wrote.
Arrest reports indicate Shonquarius Dequeo Mitchell, 18, of 333 Stephen Drive in Gatlinburg, was charged April 22 with aggravated robbery, criminal impersonation, driving on a suspended license and seat belt law. An official with the sheriff’s office said Friday that he had been released after posting $36,000 bond.
The Mountain Press could not obtain copies of his arrest warrants Friday.
The warrant for Campbell does not mention the name of the third individual identified by Cox.
