American Legion Post 104 sponsored Poppy Days over Memorial Day weekend, distributing approximately 1,500 poppies at the Kodak Food City, Smoky Mountain Knifeworks, and Sevierville Kroger.

"We always have Poppy Days on Memorial Day weekend, and then we do it again in the fall," said army veteran Bob McFalls.

"We do pretty well this time of year," added Ken Neufur, who likewise served in the army.

Post 104 provides transportation and monetary assistance to needy veterans, and 100 percent of the money donated during poppy days goes toward that end.

"We're veterans helping veterans," McFalls said. "I enjoy helping others. I really do. There's nothing better than to look at a person with a grin on their face." n
