A yard sale benefiting Boyd's Creek Community Outreach was held on Friday and Saturday at Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church.

The community outreach is a collaboration between three local churches, Rocky Springs, Boyd's Creek Baptist and St. Paul's Episcopal.

The group has been involved in numerous community projects. Most recently, it cleaned up the grounds at Catlettsburg Elementary School. It has also collected school supplies for local schools, gathered donations for the Sevier County Humane Society and put together Thanksgiving baskets for needy families.

Kris Horder, a member of St. Paul's, said the sale is the organization's primary fundraiser. Once the funds have been raised, the group collectively decides how the money can best be used to benefit the community.

Horder said she became involved with Boyd's Creek Community Outreach when whe learned about the mission from a fellow church member. "There's a clear need here in Sevier County," she said. I like the idea of getting involved and helping," she said.

Lynn Turner, also a member at St Paul's, agreed: "Economic times are hard, so we like to do whatever we can to help people out."
