Business destroyed by fire
A fire destroyed the interior of a local rental business early Monday morning.
Sevier Rent-All, located on Dolly Parton Parkway, is believed to be a total loss, Sevierville Fire Chief Matt Henderson said. Passersby called emergency dispatchers at about 1 a.m., and firefighters were there by 1:05, Henderson said.
"Flames visible was the report given to 911, and flames were visible upon arrival," Henderson said.
The business rented out a number of items, including some flammable or explosive chemicals, but Henderson said no one was present inside when the fire started and no firefighters were injured controlling the blaze.
They called for tow trucks to help move some of the rental vehicles away from the building, the chief said. "There were three large trucks up against the building," he said. "Baker's (Wrecker Service) saved them from any damage other than one broken window."
The department called for support from some other local agencies, including Sevier County Volunteer Fire Department, Northview-Kodak and Pigeon Forge Police Department.
The business was closed when the fire started; Henderson said they had not determined the cause of the blaze Monday afternoon.
