Harper named new director of Sevier County United Way
Amy S. Harper is the new executive director for United Way of Sevier County.
Russell Treadway, the board’s chair, made the announcement late last week.
“Our board is very excited,” Treadway said. “Amy brings to this position more than 30 years retail and management experience, most recently having served as Operations Manager for Tanger Outlet Center. Her input offers a new and fresh perspective to the Sevier County United Way.”
Harper fills the void left by Tom Newman, who resigned from the post a year ago this month.
“Amy was the volunteer Campaign Chair back in 1986,” said Margit Worsham, United Way board member. “She was fully involved when I was Campaign Chair in 2003 and when Earl and I jointly were Campaign Chairs in 2004.
“(She was) always prepared to help, volunteer and be involved,” Worsham continued. “I am so delighted that she will be the front of Sevier County United Way for years to come. Thank you Amy for leaving a great job at Tanger Mall to lead United Way, so we can make sure our Community Partners will be funded, making them able to do a great job for the citizens of Sevier County.”
Harper holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee and has spent the majority of her career living and working in Sevier County.
She has served on many non-profit committees and boards, which include the Dr. Robert F. Thomas Foundation “Paint the Mountains Pink” Committee, Sevierville Chamber of Commerce Marketing Committee, American Cancer Society Sevier County Relay For Life Chairperson, Board Member of the Boys and Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains, County Chairperson for United Way of Sevier County and the Pigeon Forge Citizen’s Advisory Board.
Harper is also a member of Leadership Sevier and the Sevierville Noonday Rotary Club. She resides in Sevierville with her husband, Coby, and son, Van.
